Tool notes & guidance
How to use this tool
- Enter the amount already agreed and the currency of that agreement.
- Record what has been paid and the unpaid portion due now; do not enter a paid amount again as due now.
- Calculate the outstanding and deferred balances, then check them against the actual agreement.
Record the Mahr amounts already agreed
Formula
Outstanding Mahr = total agreed amount − amount paid. Deferred outstanding = outstanding amount − unpaid portion due now. Paid and due-now portions cannot exceed the agreement.
Worked example
For an agreed £10,000, with £2,000 already paid and £3,000 of the unpaid amount due now, total outstanding is £8,000 and the deferred balance is £5,000.
Agreement and enforceability
This tool records your numbers. It does not recommend a Mahr amount, establish a payment date or decide legal enforceability. Keep the actual agreement and seek appropriate advice if there is a dispute.
Common questions
Does it recommend an amount?
No. Enter the agreement you already have.
Does an outstanding balance mean it is all due immediately?
No. The tool distinguishes the unpaid portion due now from the deferred amount you enter.
