Tool notes & guidance

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your currency and the weight convention advised by your trusted authority.
  2. Enter verified gold and silver prices per gram for the same valuation date.
  3. Calculate both thresholds and use the advised metal basis in your complete Zakat assessment.

Understanding the gold and silver thresholds

Two bases, not two payments

Nisab is an eligibility threshold. It is not the Zakat payment. The tool shows gold and silver equivalents separately rather than silently selecting the lower amount.

Formula and conventions

Threshold = selected metal weight × verified price per gram. The tool offers 87.48g gold / 612.36g silver and 85g gold / 595g silver. Use the convention and metal basis advised by your trusted authority.

Worked example

At a hypothetical £80 per gram of gold and £1 per gram of silver, the 87.48g / 612.36g convention gives £6,998.40 for gold and £612.36 for silver. These figures illustrate the calculation and are not today’s prices.

Common questions

Why do websites show different Nisab values?

Differences can reflect price dates, currencies, weight conventions and the chosen metal basis. Compare those inputs before comparing the final figures.

Do prices update automatically?

No. Supply verified prices for your valuation date. A timestamped live feed would be a separate feature.
